The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

Located close to the Udawattakele sanctuary, Sri Dalada Palace is one of the most important shrines in Sri Lanka. Also known as Dalada Maligaya, this temple is located in the royal palace of Kandy Kingdom.

Although very little remains of the original temple, built around 1600, the temple, which houses the legendary Buddha Tooth Relic, is a World Heritage Site. Amazing decorations with golden railings and great Canadian architecture make it a delightful sight for visitors.

The devout monks chant Malvatte and Aegirin prayers in unison at the temple thrice every day including morning, noon and evening. Every Wednesday a holy symbolic relic bath is performed with scented water which is distributed among the guests with healing powers.

Venue: Royal Palace, Kandy

Timings: 5:30 AM to 8:00 PM
